A Gearshift Mount

A Gearshift Mount

OpenWheeler+ was specially made with Logitech G27 wheel owners in mind, but it works with all wheel models coming with a separate gearshift module for changing gears manually. OpenWheeler+ includes an external gearshift mount, which can accommodate Thrustmaster’s PC and PS3-compatible TH8RS shifter as well. Attached to the chassis, the gearshift mount can be adjusted by moving it forwards and backwards.

In order to pick the OpenWheeler+ racing seat, you must possess (or plan to purchase) a racing game wheel with a gear shifter, which is not attached to the wheel base, i.e. a gear shifter, which needs to be attached elsewhere. OpenWheeler+ offers that ‘elsewhere’ and it is called a ‘gearshift mount’.

Supported Steering Wheels

OpenWheeler+ was specially built for those who have a Logitech G27 steering wheel, or a Thrustmaster T500 RS steering wheel, which includes a TH8RS gearshift unit. In other words, for those of you who have a racing game wheel with an external gearshift module that is not attached to the base and with a separate pedal unit connected to the wheel base via a cable (or else connected wirelessly). It is good to know that OpenWheeler+ does not support steering wheel models, which use just one platform for the steering wheel and the pedals.

If you plan to purchase a T500 RS wheel and a TH8RS shifter (a T500 RS add-on) in the near future, consider buying them together with the OpenWheeler+ racing seat. Thus, you will save some money in your pocket.

Supported Gaming Consoles

Supported Gaming Consoles

The actual purpose of any gaming seat is to support the player to become a better virtual race car driver. Automatically, this means a better real-life car driver.

The gaming console in use has no connection with the gaming seat whatsoever. It can be just anything - an XBOX 360®, a PlayStation 3® (or an earlier version) or a Wii®. You can use PC or Mac too. No matter what platform you’ve chosen, OpenWheeler+ will do the job it was meant to - to help you find the best driving position possible.

OpenWheeler+ will help you (re)discover the real value of today’s driving simulation games. Along with that, you’ll be able to observe the overall improvement of your driving skills.

Inbuilt Trolley-Like Front Wheels

The inbuilt front wheels OpenWheeler+ is equipped with are very helpful. You can move the gaming seat quickly and without much effort. Move it around the house for a while and you will quickly come to appreciate them. The remarkable thing is that this great functionality is not available with any other racing game seat.

Want to see how easy it is to move OpenWheeler+? Just lift the back of the racing seat a little bit (a couple of inches should be enough) and start moving it from one place to another. The trolley-like wheels attached below the adjustable pedal platform substantially reduce the racing seat’s overall weight.

A Real Sports Car Seat

A Real Sports Car Seat

Both OpenWheeler models are equipped with a real racing seat. Coming closer to reality is the primary goal of each sim racing game. Have you asked yourself how important the proper driving position is? Once you touch down on the racing circuit, you’ll immediately figure it out. This is why, on the real track, before the instructor starts teaching you how to drive, you will first learn how to take a proper seat.

The primary goal of all sim racing games is to represent the real thing through simulation. Using a real racing seat, any racer can learn how to take a proper seat. Compare this to your sofa, desk or chair… We all know you can’t bring a real racing car into your room. Yet, you can feel as if you're sitting in one.

A Reclining Seat Back Offering Strong Shoulder Support

The back of the OpenWheeler+ seat reclines forwards and backwards because ensuring optimal driving comfort was the main goal behind building OpenWheeler. Thanks to this functionality (offered by a very small number of gaming seats), you can find the perfect driving position.

Those who have driven under pressure, during intense virtual races, know the importance of the strong shoulder, back and leg support. Every experienced racer knows that while they are driving, their bodies tilt to the left and to the right trying to follow the road curves ahead. This is why, the stronger the shoulder, back and leg support is, the better your lap times and overall driving skills will be.

Sliding Rails (for Optimal Driving Position)

Sliding Rails (for Optimal Driving Position)

There is a sliding rail mechanism underneath the OpenWheeler+ racing seat. Thanks to it, the racing seat slides forwards and backwards. Like in a real car, thanks to the sliding rail mechanism, the player can adjust the distance between the seat and the pedals until the optimal driving position has been reached.

The seat’s sliding functionality sets the two OpenWheeler models apart from other alternatives available on today’s market. As a matter of fact, most of the other gaming seats do not offer a sliding rail mechanism at all. Some do, but in the form of a pricey add-on (£30.00-40.00). On top of that, the buyer will have to manually install it. With OpenWheeler+, the sliding rails are pre-installed and come at no additional cost.

A Pedal Platform the Player Can Adjust with Ease

It sounds ridiculous, but it’s a fact - you can more easily achieve the correct driving position while seated in your gaming seat, not in your real-life car. One important reason for that is the driver’s ability to adjust the distance between the seat and the pedals. With real cars, it all comes down to a few inches only. On the other hand, with gaming seats like OpenWheeler+, the adjustable distance is more than one foot! Yes, there’s no mistake. It’s more than one foot! Plus, almost no effort is involved thanks to the inbuilt wheels placed underneath the pedal platform.

All the driver has to do is release the seat’s knob and move the pedal platform forwards and backwards. When the perfect distance has been reached, the driver has to tighten the knob.

An Adjustable Steering Wheel Platform

An Adjustable Steering Wheel Platform

Adjusting the height of the wheel is easy with the help of a knob placed beneath OpenWheeler’s adjustable steering wheel platform. Release the knob and move the steering wheel upwards and downwards. Once you have reached the perfect height, firmly tighten the knob.

With OpenWheeler+, any player using a Logitech G27 or a Thrustmaster T500 RS wheel (with a TH8RS shifter) can get the most out of their favorite racing video games. When we say ‘any’, we mean drivers of different ages - from 6 to over 60, and of almost all sizes - from 120 cm to over 210 cm.
